But in embracing absurdism, how does my lifestyle change? Does it change at all? I mean, I don’t think it negates point, but the overall outlook of my world would be altered highly.

>> No.14985499

Not OP. It seems like nihilism just with an extra bit of edge. Life's still pointless so make your own point and laugh at life with it. Am I completely wrong?

It would improve in the sense of not being affected by the presentation of any event. The bad aspect of it, could be how the rest sees you. For instance, your mother died and you simply moved on without any sort of care. Other person might see that as a negative aspect of yours.

No retard, nihilists believe there is no inherent meaning to life or existence, so we as thinking beings can give our lives whatever meaning we desire.
Meanwhile absurdists believe that there is no meaning as well, and to search for meaning is absurd, since there isn’t any, but it’s in this irrational search for meaning that the man faces the absurd and triumphs merely by continuing to live, as the alternative would be losing to the absurd and killing yourself.

Joking, not really, one of Albert Camus’ most famous phrases is “Should I kill myself, or have a cup of coffee?”
The fact is that once one realizes the absurd, one either becomes consumed by it, or continues living normally, because that’s what we as humans do, and so when you face hardship you can look back onto the absurd, realize that there is no meaning and you are going against the current merely by existing, and perhaps draw strength from that fact.

“In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer. And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger – something better, pushing right back.” --Albert Camus

What even does absurdism stand for in the first place? What does it propose for us? What are the tenets of this "philosophy"? I don't get it; all I've seen so far has been a bunch of Philosophy 101-tier anons who post memes but whatever so-called-philosophy contained in this sect has been so shallow that it left me bitterly disappointed, to the point of incredulity of whether I've learned anything at all. There must be something more to this other than just: "Camus said that life is absurd hahaha there's no meaning, we create our own in this absurd world haha", right????

>> No.14987175

The modern physicalist mainstream mindset is actually absurdism. Camus simply articulated this better than others. If you don't believe in anything knowable beyond the physical, then you're already an absurdist.

So that's it? All of the essence of absurdism can be explained in simply one sentence? Doesn't sound very appealing to me, not to say of intellectually engaging; hardly seems like a "philosophy" at all.

I'm actually reading the myth of sisyphus. I think it's more nuanced than that. Camus also quotes Nietzch quite a lot so saying that you should just move on and embrace nihilism seems a bit odd to say the least

that is not absurdism. that is indifferentism. the view that the state of the real world is indifferent to your fucks-giving. related but not to be confused with stoicism where the state of the world matters but is not to ruin your own state of mind.

absurdims is the standpoint that life of us and others is not led by fate, but by absurd coincidences and whims of idiots. various absurdists disagree about where to go from there. act and create meaning in some way? suicide or coffee?
