I never understood the compulsion to share this sort of thing for back-pats. Wouldn't sharing an intelligent or informed opinion about one of these books be a much better source of pats than just showing that you can buy books? And if you're not looking for pats, what are you looking for?

A book should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise.

You, sir, are disgusting.

i am a reader and a voracious one at that because i own more books than storage spaces but i am also a bohemian as i dont care if i let my stuff pile up on the floor even if those are the very products i use to convey my image as an intellectual to you

You arrange the books from best on the top to worst on the bottom, to the point where the wood on the desk/bookshelf is more valuable to you.

I'd love a manga Odyssey or Ulyssee. The only adaptions I believe I have are No Longer Human and Frankenstein, both Ito.

I'm extremely inspired by Napoleon. How do I become a modern day Napoleon/Caesar/Alexander?

What would a modern day great of those proportions look like? How would he get to such a position?

>> No.14915579

>>14915501
Well napoleon really liked classical epics (Ossian for his day and the Greeks) and biographies of great men (Plutarch, which I would highly recommend) as did Caesar. So stuff like that but probably with a bit of Nietzsche and/or Evola thrown in too to counter the modern meekness

i used to do it on /mu/ while still building a music taste. now im absolutely based and have an epic music taste and doesn't care what anybody thinks, however i posted in a shelf thread awhile ago because im new to reading and clearly was in need of some self validation. i think some anons also dont have people irl to talk to about books so post shelves in hopes someone will start a conversation about one of the books, like a incel wearing a deathgrips shirt in hopes of a goth gf.

Ayako is one of the weirder Tezuka books I've read, but you'll dig it if you're into his weird relationship to female characters.

>>14915501
Well Napoleon and Alexander of Macedon had quite a bit in common. Well Hitler had a number of parallels with Napoleon. And Trump shares a lot of rhetorical practices and personality traits of Hitler. So you should read The Art of the Deal.

The only book I have on the floor is Dune which is where I left it a month ago when I finished it.
