yeah. it is just the need for coherence, which is never out there in the world but always comes from the mind. lit and phil give the mind the materials to build that coherence in a world where humans cant really give it... that pleasing je ne sais quoi comes from that. gotta give it some time to put the materials together too.

I feel the same way sometimes. I wonder how people could even feel alive without reading literature and philosophy, whether they ever have a feeling that something indescribable is missing, or even have the impetus and motivation to find out what that thing is
