Generally, I despise twitter lingo because everyone talks exactly the same in that god-forsaken website. You can say that 4chan uses the same stock expressions as well, but due to the higher character limit of posts, there is room for actual discussion. On Twitter, the low character count coupled with the need for retweets and favorites to gain traction, lead people to regurgitate the same expressions and memes. I'm only 22 and I already feel like old.

I remember being puzzled when I was 15 I had a female classmate whose boyfriend has broken up with her (it was not a serious relationship, just holding hands and kisses) and so she felt so bad mentally that she skipped over three month of school and her mum was okay with that. I kept thinking how stupid it was and how it is not a serious problem. And in high school I realised that problems of different people are not comparable and people always regard their own problems as the most important ones, no matter how unimportant they actually are. A rich kid who did not get a car he wanted for his birthday might actually feel as bad as a person who has no food. Obviously, this is an exaggeration used only for demonstrative purposes and shall not be taken literally. And I agree that there is probably less actual depression in the world than it is declared, but I think, that you shall not think that if someone did not lose their leg or loved one, they could not be depressed.
