How do you feel that our greatest minds are choosing to podcast instead of expressing their ideas through the written word?

>> No.14751491

All podcasters who began post-JRE are band-wagoners and therefore unoriginal.

Joe Rogan is NOT one of the greatest minds. He's a former UFC fighter who runs a talk show on which he occasionally features intellectuals. Nothing more. Nothing else.

He's no Plato, or Nietzsche, or Peterson. He's not a profound or original thinker by any stretch. Sure, he makes some good points about SJWs and censorship. Some of them might even be slightly original. But lots of people have things to say about SJWs. Hell, even my cleaning lady does.

He's not Jake Paul, but calling him one of our greatest minds shows you are truly delusional.

He's more street smart than a genius. More physical than mental. He often speaks to the common man, as he is very much one himself.

Because barely anybody buys books anymore, barely anybody has the willpower and discipline to take time out of their schedule to read a book anymore, let alone finish one. You can listen to a podcast while working, exercising, cleaning, standing on your head in a dark room, so on and so forth. Podcasts are a lot more versatile and easily accessible to the average person since they don't have to *read* it.

I'm happy for Rogan that he found a niche to be successful where he can drink, smoke and talk about chimps with celebrities, but damn it really did a number on other youtube "celebs".
Everyone and his mom now thinks they can run a podcast because it doesn't involve big production costs and can generate alot of viewtime.

I had to see it to belive it, this board actually got infested with 17 year olds. Imagine thinking of Joe Rogan as someone even fairly smart, let alone call him one of the greatest minds of today. So if someone learns stuff as a hobby he is considered a genius all of a sudden? By that logic we are as smart as him after we hear him talk. He literally does drugs in order to feel like some kind of intellectual, and you poor fuckers worship him, I bet you didn't even see how bad his stand up is. Joe is no more than an average guy with great people skills and a fairly good memory which is why he can talk to hundreds of people about anything.

You don't have the visceral measure of a man without the sound and timbre of his voice, or his appearance to judge the source of the words properly in mere text. It's as it was in ancient times (except some Hollyweird weed gem gets more favorable space in the agora). It's fine, really.

Any retarded fuck has a podcast now, and I have seen literal mommy bloggers / regular booty girls start one. Is this the product of individualisation and democracy? Everyone's opinion matters, even though it's uneducated, unnuanced and based on personal assumptions. People only want to talk, but dont want to listen.

Also how is "philosophise this" with Stephen West, I want to listen to it, but I'm not sure if it's quality or not.

because you only need a new set every so often and independent of his proffession a man has to fulfipl his private needs also.

sure rogan is a rich shitlord thats why he is able to work out all day long.

it's kind of pathetic to be honest. he could influence a lot of things with his kind of reach but he'd rather pump him self up in the gym, then artificially soothe his muscles and tendons with a joint or two at night and then talk to some other shitlords nobody cares about.

i'm not saying he should be a better person. just that he could be. the reason he chooses not to be known by us or himself for that matter.

I sometimes wonder if certain secret organizations have their manipulation game so on par that they can control the importent parts of a person's believe structure. so they don't act out of line, but don't even realize they have been handed an agenda.
Rogen seems to me to be that kind of individual. Or he is counsciously involved in large scale manipulstion a jewery.

OK thanks. I'm following the "start with Greeks" path right now and got the Plato complete works. However it says I need to read the myth book, Iliad and Odyssey first, which is extensive. I had some of it in highschool, but will it benefit my reading of Plato greatly or is it just "nice" to have some background info?
