There's no point in learning a language just for its literature, since it'll take thousands of hours of reading practice, regardless of language, to learn to read as comfortably as you can in your native language.
Therefore, anyone who wishes to learn a foreign language must feel satisfied reading comics/children's books/pop music song lyrics for rather long periods of time before they can tackle any canonical works.
