What books from today will still be read in 500 years?

>> No.14636726

I'm not certain that any will be desu. I just don't think the quality of current literature is very high. But I'm interested in any different opinions. Good question OP

Please discontinue to use my avatarfag pic, thank you.

To answer your question, probably the few big religious texts(Bible etc) of the West and the Big religious texts of the East( Hindu stuff). Along with the Classics which, will probably remain just as praised as they are now. I really doubt anything else from this day and age will be remembered besides maybe the timeless stuff like Ulysses, Moby Dick, etc. Philosophy through its nature will probably just continue to grow chronologically; I don't think it'll be forgotten. Although, this probably means even Artaud will be forgotten(:-( ), only remembered as inspirations to French Philosophers, a mere citation. Also probably has to due to the fact that he rejected the literary mediums of the time which leaves most of his body of work in collections. Maybe when Theatre gets revived he'll get more attention.
