Man this is so much better as a verse translation than as prose

Of course it is. Who in the nigging fuck recommends the prose translation?

I'm not sure anyone specifically does, but the first translations that come up when you look are penguin prose translations

Oh shit, my friend gave me the prose version as a gift. I haven't read it yet. What do?

Why does your hand HAVE to be in the picture?? Just set the book on the fucking table and take a picture of it.

just end it, there is no way out for you

I think the more important question is why does it matter? Or why does my hand have to *not* be in the picture? I think it says a lot about you that was the takeaway from this post, rather than anything related to the content.

>why does my hand have to *not* be in the picture?
Why is it IN the picture to begin with?? One must wonder why you chose to not only hold the book crookedly and too far from the camera, but also take up almost the entire right half of the image with your hand. One must wonder why you wouldn't simply place the book on a flat surface that was nearby and take a far more clear and presentable image than this, as there where undoubtedly suitable surfaces nearby to accomplish this task. It is almost offensive, this deliberate placement of your small and feminine hands, which I may add, is not helped by the homosexual bracelet.

Because I was reading it. That tends to be what you do with books. I had finished it and posted it here with the hopes of drumming up conversation about it
Did I hurt your fee fees?

I've been reading it for the first time and after the first few books I swapped from Lattimore's verse to Rieu's Prose, and I'm enjoying it a lot more than I was. It's an impressive feat to attempt to translate poetry but I really don't think poetry is worth reading in anything but its native language.
