Why is the imagery in this so edgy? Even the benelovent deities are described as holding infant corpses and skulls full of blood.

Tibetan monks make gilded cups from the caps of other monks' skulls and practice sky burial. Do you know sky burial? The Zoroastrians do it too, except they use special towers. The Buddhist monks of Tibet leave their corpses on mountainsides to be scavenged by animals and decay away, and then retrieve the bones. Did you know Tibet was a country in which most people lived as abused serfs under the religious authorities? (This does not justify the conquering and Sinicization of Tibet like the PRC claims it does, though.) Tibet is pretty fucking metal.

Warlords gotta do heinous shit to attain power and maintain it through psychological warfare. After that they can be magnanimous and somewhat benevolent. Gods are inspired by powerful humans, so I imagine Tibetans had to deal with some Ghengis Khans in their day, tripped hard, and created religious stories after.
