What are books that you like, or even love so much, that you re-read them? How many times have you done that? Is the book itself particularly well regarded, compared to your opinions on it, or are you aware that it is just a favorite for yourself and maybe few other fans?

I think I'm officially anti-democracy. The fact that crybaby, beanmilk-chugging faggots like Cuck Wendig get any say in government is just a testament to the failure of our political system.

This picture, depicting its subject holding a book, is similar, but he doesn't have it in or up against his mouth. I don't have any more, though.

The religious poetry of the ancient near east, so stuff like Gilgamesh, Ecclesiastes, Discourse of a Man with his Ba. Mainly those three in fact. I've re-read Gilg at least 20 times, Ecclesiastes a lot more from being raised Christian and it being my favorite book of the bible as a youth. Discourse probably 10 times, and the "Death is before me today" part more.

Gilgamesh was well regarded by Rilke, a favorite poet of mine, and the amount of stories with mythological similarity to Gilgamesh (the Aphrodite-Ishtar Anu-Zeus connection, Enkidu as the master of beasts, the conflict between the civilized and the natural, and their eventual partnership being the Apollonian vs the Dionysian before they were cemented, etc). Ecclesiastes is obviously well regarded, doubt that one needs any explanation. Part of Discourse of a Man with his Ba was in Gaiman's Sandman, but aside that it's definitely less well known.

Very interesting. I should read the epic of Gilgamesh. I am aware of Ecclesiastes.

Me too.
Party because I just missed falling in that type of hell.
Also, because I know the locations in the book.
Very nostalgic.

I don’t reread fiction very often. I reread the count of Monte Cristo because of how comfy it was. I read moby dick last year and I’m certain I’ll reread that again at some point. I think I’ll read lots again soon because I last read it when I was about 14 and want to see how my perception is different as an adult
