chem eng are needed for businesses and I don’t want to talk down to you because you chose the higher profitability degree.
My quarrel still stands with chem eng not being a proper scientia degree and it is often aparent in the students who chose that degree (as most eng degrees): they are shallow, short sighted goals, way too subordinate/servile and do not care for their degree once outside of the university building.
Many of these can be found in the pure sciences but at least there is the chance to find ingenuity whereas engineering is a barren landscape.

The typical argument liberals use to discard any worldview that somehow appeals to a tradition. The fact that I grew up in a rural did indeed shape me It gave me a different view on contemporary urban life as i'm experiencing now. It taught me to appreciate other values, such as living with rather than against nature, the beauty of family, the importance of community and shared ideals, the realization that there is something bigger, not just youreself and your own little bourgeois aspirations, a sense of the sublime and the holy. Acknowledging that i came into being in a context that had already taken shape before i was there might be what you call "blindly following my parents", it never was without criticism. Just following your primal impulses and "enjoying life" in a hedonistic way is not something you came up with all by yourself. Believing you'll be happy by maximalizing your own "freedom" and capital is "blindly following your parents".

Because I realized I'd rather kill myself, than WORK in that field. I worked for some time as a software dev, and it was so fucking miserable and horrific, that it killed all my interest in the field all together. However, that led to the best purchase of my life: Kindle Paperwhite, and non-stop reading in my NEETdom. I don't regret it. Probably gonna go for another major, humanities this time for fucking sure. Fun thing, I almost got into Linguistics Masters program, I was a couple of points short from getting enlisted. I was the only one from STEM to apply for Linguistics exams. And I did better than some people who have bachelors in that field. So I just got into CE Masters, looted some scholarships, and dropped out, kek.

I've always believed that it is the greatest university in the world. Like all unis though it's infested with annoying slags and smug commies. Except there's a few brilliant people here- however they're almost all private elite and as someone from a poor family I'm weirdly in between both worlds- wanting to be part of an "oxbridge" elite that doesn't really exist anymore in a country that doesn't want the oxbridge system to exist either both culturally and practically anymore. Being am Archaeologist here is comfy though! Really specialist libraries and world leading experts.

I do find it strange though how for a city designed for the brightest autists how unfriendly it is. The streets are all unevenly paved and rife with homeless and chinese tourists.

And what books might those? I'm not even sure what people mean when they're say they're anarchists because everyone including Marx would count as an anarchist, so I have to imagine that most people that describe themselves in this way are trying to signal something else. What I'm trying to say, I guess, is that most people that self-describe as anarchists tend to be retards that think of it as a costume. That's why you have so many "anarchists" and "antifa" members that think like actual neoliberals.

I do mean as a political schema. I mean if you start out with coops and groups of people that become increasingly independent of the state and dependent on one another, you're going to reach something that resembles anarchy. This might not be the anarchy of 19th century writers, but it nevertheless would fall in the same category.

You said Antifa so I assumed that was your model.

Marxism is definitely not about living on a bunch of co-ops and being independent. Leninism is the overthrow of the state and using its former power to organize communist society from the top down, for example. This first comes from the dual power of the anti-state, such as the party or another militant organization independent of the state, which then subsumed the bourgeoise state which then ‘withers away’.

>You said Antifa so I assumed that was your model.
I said a lot of people talk about anarchism and antifa like they're badges they pin to their chest for effect.
>Marxism is definitely not about living on a bunch of co-ops and being independent.
But that's exactly what it is, though obviously they would evolve beyond being "just" coops.
>Leninism is the overthrow of the state and using its former power to organize communist society from the top down, for example.
Leninism was the opposite of what Marx or any real Marxist would intend. They basically came statist instead, the point is to remove the state from the equation entirely.
>anti-state, such as the party
Parties aren't anti-state.
>militant organization independent of the state
Unless they're providing for themselves, then they're not independent of the state in any way.
>which then subsumed the bourgeoise state which then ‘withers away’.
Ah, yes, the USSR truly is what I think about when I conceive the withering away of the state.

Lenin rightly recognized that the terrain had changed since Marx and so a new approach was required. Disagreement with Marx does not preclude someone from being a Marxist, it’s not a doctrinaire ideology. The communist party was opposed to the Tsarist state in Russia and in republican China. They didn’t participate in legitimized politics and instead mobilized constituent power. The real problem comes in the Thermidor when constituent power becomes constituted. Constituted power must be opposed through permanent or uninterrupted revolution as advocated by Trostsky or Mao.

The state forms the superstructure, the party can work within the superstructure while liberating aspects of the base by various means to gain further independence. You can’t just declare “I’m not a statist” and expect the state to crumble like the anarchists do, you need a plan and organization first.

In what way did it change?
>Disagreement with Marx does not preclude someone from being a Marxist, it’s not a doctrinaire ideology
No, but you have to actually understand what's being said to disagree, lmao. Most Leninist and statists literally don't.
> The communist party was opposed to the Tsarist state in Russia and in republican China. They didn’t participate in legitimized politics and instead mobilized constituent power.
None of this has anything to do with them being statist, which they were.
>The state forms the superstructure
Actually, the point of Marxism is that the superstructure is either formed by the economic powers or at the very least supported by them. The nation state as it is would not exist without the same things that made capitalism possible, which is the absolute monarchy that then gave way to statist power.
>while liberating aspects of the base by various means to gain further independence
You said literally nothing with this. Stop talking in such a veiled way and just be specific about what exactly you're trying to propose.
>You can’t just declare “I’m not a statist” and expect the state to crumble like the anarchists do, you need a plan and organization first
What the fuck are you talking about? Of course you need a plan and an organization, which is where giving power to workers to get them to become independent of state power comes in. That is why co-ops are an important step in dismantling the state, you need producer entities that can cooperate together in a cohesive manner without the use of the state or its currency. And this doesn't fall under "anarchist" theory in the vein of a Kropotkin. This is 101 shit Marxist shit, my dude.
