50 Shades of Grey is based upon a theme that works. It's an SM fantasy you would not like to live, but read about. SM isn't about real dominance, but played out. In the case of the book it's both REAL dominance in life outside of the bedroom in FICTION. Gotta hand it to E L James. There is some artistic value in this crappy work as art.

3 are written for exclusively female audiences
3 literally have the word "girl" in the title
The rest have a female main character

Maybe if men still read, this list would look different, but sadly men these days waste their time paying video games and watching porn.

This, it's funny when people argue women are smarter since they read more.
I'm sure reading 50 shades of grey is a lot more enlightening than Kant.
At the very least men read science fiction that at least usually tackles logistics, engineering problems and such things, not how to much one get spanked before saying the safe word.

they do, moron. that shit just doesn’t show up on lists like these because there’s 100+ years of used copies abound

this list is not a ”problem”. look up the bestsellers of the early 20th century and there’ll be stuff you’ve never heard of because it was – surprise – the same type of flash-in-the-pan pop lit you see here. this is like complaining about cardi b being on top of the charts or whatever

If he goes straight into classics he'll be bored and maybe overwhelmed, if he reads bestsellers he'll be reading chick lit, etc.

This is true, but I question if the average man today is even truly aware of the classics as a reading option. I was having a conversation of work recently when books came up. I mentioned something about having to read the classics in Latin when I was younger as I went to a private catholic school. They told me that not only did they not have to learn Latin in their public schools, they didn’t read any classics at all, nor where they really aware of what sort of works the term Classics implied. They’re all in their thirties and this is at a well-respected University by the way.
