Is it normal that I'm obsessed with saving every chart possible but never read the books in them? Actually, I haven't read a book in 3 years.

Homer is good. Hesiod's Theogony and Works and Days are good. Theognis is not good.

Oedipus plays are depressing
The orestian trilogy is good

Herodotus is fantastic, Thucydides is solid too

Probably. I do this too, also with albums on /mu/. I also download PDFs for everything.
I swear I'll start reading again any day now.

I don't get why some of y'all consider this for pseuds. I like posting these, and I don't intend to brag. These are structured reading plans, or at least some of them. Pretty useful if you wanna quit being a pseud.

Christ, this context shit is getting out of hand.

No, you don't need to read a billion history books to fucking start Plato. You could start with Plato and be in a good place. The minimum "proper" western philosophy curriculum begins with Plato, with some notes on Parmenides and Heraclitus at best. Is it good to start Plato with some knowledge of Greek myth, history, and presocratic philosophy? Sure. But bear in mind, that "proper context" in western philosophy is always an infinite regress. You can't read anyone without neglecting some context. But it's good to read any of them. There's no wrong answer, you'll work it out as you need to. If it's hard to understand, you can look up supplementary material or figure out what context may help.
I'd say start with Plato, and just watch a handful of fucking youtube videos to put him in context.

Best to read something by Chomsky before you start that chart.

Classics grad here. Just get your feet wet with Homer and the Theogony, and supplement them with Hamilton (shes lovely, but don't start with her as the chart suggests, unless you are REALLY clueless about Greek mythology). I would also recommend picking up or renting the Landmark editions of Herodotus and Thucydides.
