Theres really no one to read prior, he doesnt really reference western philosophers much except derogitorily. He was mainly influenced by Adi Shankara and Ibn Arabi, but I dont know that I would recommend them as a start.

I would recommend you pick up "Intro to Hindu Doctrine," and see if it interests you, it's a great intro to his thought in general.

Or grab one of these overview type books to get a general feel. The first two by Sedgwick and Quinn are academic.

I'm going to guess the trads dont admire a Universal Gnostic Sex Cult, but he seems cool to me.
Evola and Guenon's comments on Crowley were less derisive than I would've expected, so theres that.

Quinn and Godwin think Guenon was basically doing what Theosophy was doing anyways, plus Guenon came up in Papus's theosophy group.

Isn’t the Mark Sedgwick book something of a hit piece on the Traditionalist school? I thought he tried to expose it as a sort of “unbiased” (but really biased) academic or is that not the case?

>> No.14220430

>>14220419
I can see that criticism, Sedgwick edited a book critical of right wingers as well. Itll still give you much needed background info. It's mainly a history of the trads.

The Only Tradition by Quinn is much better. Academic, but also sympathetic to the trads. It also focuses much more on their ideas and very little on their history.

Sedgwick is good anyways, reading works critical of a philosophy is a great way to learn about it.

They do publish alt-right and European new right books, but not really neo-nazi books though. Can you give an example of one?

Arktos is a general dissident right publisher. They publish pretty much anything on the right except for legitimate neo-nazi and fascist texts for obvious reasons. They also publish books that deal with the Traditionalist school where it overlaps with right wing politics. Alba Rosa by Alexander Wolfheze is one example. Your statement is ill informed.

What does /lit/ act like there is a traditionalist movement ? There are ten authors who tackled this subject at most, and only two of them are worthwhile, and ironically these people are against all forms of exterior organization, they are explicit that traditionalism has NOTHING to do with forms. Traditionalism is SIMPLY the belief that truth is supra-human therefore accessible by every human with the adequat mental capacities for such inquiries NOTHING LESS, NOTHING MORE. It does not imply any type of organization. Quite the contrary, traditionalism CANNOT assume a form, BUT those of limited intellectual horizons have to adopt forms in order to get closer to these principles. In essence, anything existing materially will only distort the primordial truth. The essence of the material is that it's divisive, while metaphysics unite.

A few months ago someone linked a website with a few hermitic texts, and like an idiot I read half of one then forgot to save the bookmark
The text in question was about a vision a man had where he sees everything as earth and water combined, then a light shines down into it iirc.
Also, this may not have been on the same website but another was about how man came to earth and dominated each planet on the way, taking their power for their own. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
