There is no alliance. STEM kids look down on trade kids and both of them just happen to hate liberal arts types equally.

Oddly enough, this has not worked out in their favor. I work at a major northeastern liberal arts college and oddly enough, the admissions team has described other schools struggling to get their graduates job assistance because STEM and trade kids don't know how to tell a story about themselves. They have skills, but they have none of the narrative technique required to spin your skill set into exactly what a "good" job wants, so a lot of them are stuck in shitty low paying jobs.
