What English translation(s) of the Divine Comedy does /lit/ approve of? I have only read Longfellow.

I speak Italian and Longfellow is the only decent one. Mandelbaum is total shit, as are all the other recent ones. Just my two cents.

Fucking KEK. It's terrible, just terrible. Reading translations is already bad but the Commedia in english is horrendous. I've read it in Portuguese and i know a bit of Italian and at least in Portuguese it the rhymes match pretty much word for word, and the syntax isn't that strange...
But in english?
A fucking waste of time, don't bother with it. Might as well get a prose adaptation; it'll be more coherent.

Im learning latin. Is there a decent Latin rendition? I know its old italian so it should be relitively close and I could possibly read it, but I would be like a middle scholer trying to read Shakespeare, you know what I mean?
