ITT times when you were grammar nazi'd in real life

>middle school, biology class
>teacher is talking about how the school is going to hold a fund-raising event to donate to cancer research charities
>the event will have cancer survivors to talk to us kids about the experience
>I thought that "cancer survivor" was a person who had cancer in the past and no longer had it, they survived the experience
>ask the teacher "will there be non-survivors?" by which I meant people who were still living with cancer, they hadn'r survived yet or maybe at all
>teacher corrects me, says cancer survivors are people who are currently surviving it, not survived it in the past and are healed now
>whole class laughs at me

It was one of the most embarassing moments of my life
