American English was always heavily negrified, especially in the South. Americans should de-negrify their English as much as possible. Sadly, we're at a point where black English is becoming the most dominant English, such that you can hear it among prominent people in culture, media, academia, politics, etc. It didn't used to be that way! Sometimes it's hard to tell who is white and black just from hearing someone's voice. That is scary. And sadly the reverse rarely happens (a black person adopting a more strictly standard American English). I don't know what the future of American English will be, but I suspect it'll be a heavily negrified and dumbed-down English with a growing Spanish vocabulary ripped from Mexicans.

and that all whites use proper grammar which is untrue.

in a way she's right though. grammar is generally understood in its prescriptive form. as a set of rules to delineate correct and incorrect usage. the consequence of this is social and class stratification. standards for literature are way different than those for speaking living english. not seeing this distinction is a sign you're a retard to anyone mildly intelligent

Yeah, if this argument *has* to be made in some form, it would make a lot more sense to make it along class lines: Those with a poorer background have limited access to education (at least in America) and grammar should be more prescriptive in order to accommodate them better. It's still a weird argument though, since removing the prescriptive nature of grammar would be a slippery slope to different social classes literally developing separate languages.

Things like final -s on 3rd person singular present verbs, irregular plurals inherited from German (child, children), participle verbs that don't end in -ed (swam, not swimmed itd.). These are just examples of things that could be simplified further as time moves on.

joseph conrad learned english as a third language and if anything his prose was uniquely brilliant precisely because he was awkwardly self-translating from polish and french. a foreign perspective can expand the possibilities of english literature as non-native writers chafe against the constraints of english grammar, which is very simplistic when compared to something like the free word order of a slavic language. do you know of any other literary tradition where crucial figures are trilingual non-natives like conrad and nabokov? do you know of any anglos that became literary masters of russian or polish, overshadowing native writers? english stands to gain, not lose, from colliding with more sophisticated languages.

English is far more complicated than the majority of other languages. Just try learning a non european language for fuck's sake. English routinely breaks its own rules and has far more exceptional cases than other non hybridised languages.
You can easily find this on surveys of bilingual people, where English is always highly ranked as a difficult language to master. Chinese by comparison is trivial except for vocabulary. Arabic and Persian have a large amount of challenges to vocabulary but their grammar is far easier than English. African languages might be challenging but who the fuck knows because barely anyone learns them anyway.
The Eastern European languages are the only languages that are more commonly considered hard or impossible to master for non native speakers.

Well done, your record of all 100% of your posts being wrong is intact.
Chinese grammar is dead easy. There's no tense so conjugation just gets fucked. Just use simple modifying characters to change a clause into a past or passive tense etc. It's literally almost identical to what you'd get if you just simplified the simple SVO structure down to its bare bones.
Almost every single English speaker who tries Chinese immediately realises the grammar is as simple as can be. If you have a talent for memorisation of characters, which gets very easy with practice, then you're set aside from tones, and when you're speaking quickly even native speakers will slur a tone here and there so that gets done with practice too.
Ironically you're the one who's outing himself as not knowing anything about foreign languages, since if you knew anything about Chinese you'd know how it's a real paper tiger that people only think is hard until they try it.

Chinese is both easier and harder than it's made out to be. It's easier than it seems because, although, yes, there are oodles of noodles of noodly characters, they tend to follow patterns and are somewhat logical in their progression. It helps if you keep Chinese philosophical concepts in mind, like Confucian scholastics and ethics. It's harder than it's made out to be due to the plethora of homonyms and synonyms that you're only going to guess at their meaning by context.
>but tones solve that
When Chinese speak at a million words a minute they skip tones except when it's unclear to (fluent) Chinese speakers what word is what. To us, as Chinese-learners, it's frequently unclear which word they meant. Additionally, there are homonyms with the same tone. You'll be able to figure out which word they're using if they've provided good context. Or, more often, they're being poetic, and using double-meaning to make your brain hurt while you're figuring out whether they actually like this cafe or not.

English speakers also play this sort of word game, but if I'm being honest, most English speakers speak it at a fourth grade level and clever word play is beyond their ability.

One could make this argument for almost all Indo-European languages, all of which are much simpler than the proto-Indo-European from which they are derived. The gradual loss of 'complex' grammatical features is commonplace in Europe's languages, hence why Italian, French and Spanish are all much simpler and far easier to learn than Classical Latin.

Interesting how French always gets lauded as 'pure' too, given that it is a debased provincial dialect of Latin as spoken by Celtic peasants under the Roman yoke, heavily hybridised with Germanic Old Frankish as spoken by the aforementioned Gauls' new masters from the Low Countries, to the extent that one-fifth of French's word-stock and also its grammar (as well as its name for itself, its speakers and their homeland) are loaned from non-Romance tongues. 5% even comes from English, meaning one-in-twenty words in French comes from 'l'anglais'

None of these languages is difficult to learn, just a few 'mathematical' tricks to help you memorise a few rules on gender/case/etc and you've mastered the oh-so-difficult bit. Is this what you think qualifies a language as 'non-pleb'? It seems to me that the main criticisers of English on this site are autists who find the mathematical aspect of language-learning appealing, and believe their ability to recall whether a rock has been arbitrarily defined as masculine or feminine in Latvian makes them Big Brain™. There is nothing that these other languages possess in terms of grammar that cannot be equally-well expressed in English through an expanded vocabulary.

I'm a little stoned so bear with me. Throughout European history, the intellectuals had their own language: latin. You could be some pollack and enjoy your intellectual pursuits while corresponding to other experts in your field in latin. Plebs need not apply. Now, this is very is similar to written chinese. Chinese people in the past, could barely understand their fellow chinese that lived just over the the hills due to their dialects (look up how different chinese dialects sound if you need more proof) hoever the few literate chinese could still speak to each other through their written language. The remains of this can still be seen today when Hong Kongers can read Beijinger's weibo posts but can't speak to each other. While I have no problems with people writing in their dialect, if this becomes the norm then the average reader will just avoid reading "non-white" english as the semantic drift increases cognitive load and it's just not worth it. There was an article in the Atlantic about a NYC liberal who found out that his kid's school has pretty much removed all basic standards to accommodate niggers and he can't understand what' happening. Hopefully these people experience what poor southerners did soon enough.

> Packer is a committed liberal who boasts of his kids’ multiracial friends and woke politics.Yet, Packer is disturbed by what he has seen over the past five years: His kids’ education heavily emphasizes slavery and colonialism, but ignores civics; white privilege indoctrination is everywhere; Left-wing activism is championed as the epitome of virtue; and racial identity is encouraged, with some schools dividing students into race groups.

>But Packer is most outraged by the abandonment of meritocracy. He can’t believe schools would drop standardized testing and other basic academic requirements. He knows whites and Asians do best in these categories, and that it makes schools less diverse; he just wants the diversity and the meritocracy. By contrast, New York City’s progressive leaders have decided diversity is more important than merit.
>This has made Packer wary of identity politics. While he fawns over diversity and insists his kids need to be surrounded by a comfortable number of non-whites, he’s had enough of the race talk. He was disturbed when his daughter told him she wishes she wasn’t white because of slavery.

Stupid individuals with personal gripes won't have an effect on the preservation of the language. It's not dependent on schools either. Language has now been catalogued and preserved more than ever through the internet. Sure people may communicate more vernacularly at times, but the formal way is available to look up at everyone's fingertips through a variety of online tools and resources.

What 'current English'? There are plenty of Englishes many of them more divergent than AAVE. In fact, everything in AAVE just comes from English dialects in England, to Southern USA, to blacks. The most divergent are those that have been divergent for a thousand years. That said, I hate prescriptivism because it has no basis and stunts development.

Yeah nah. I see wrong, awkward and unskilled English on a daily basis online. Grammar means little, the main thing is knowing the particularities of words and their subtle senses and applications, which non-natives do not. They simplify and destroy its currents. Sophistication is meaningless if even a point when you simply don't know a language well enough to use it properly. You contribute to content in it that is of lower and lower quality as non-natives influence non-natives.

Imagine unironically thinking this. Go learn Arabic or Chinese or Persian then you dumbfuck, there's a reason English is so popular and it's not just because the Brits and Americans have shilled it for centuries, if Chinese were the global language literally 50% or more of potential speakers wouldn't even bother because it would be too difficult. English may have retarded rules but a 9 year old Congo pygmy with a single 1940s textbook could learn it in a week. I didn't even finish high school or ever even properly study it but I speak English fluently because it's criminally easy

English is very much alive and well, it is taught all around the world as a second language. But culture is downstream of biology. When the last people of European descent are absorbed into the brown tide and world civilisation is finally sent irrevocably downward into a more African style of decline, the darker persons that replace us will wander about the ruins of Europe speaking English. They just won't speak it very well.
