Nobody wants to admit that Hitchens was just the inferior atheist parody of Chesterton. He, of course, never wanted to be this. He WANTED to be Orwell. He also kind of wanted to be Camus. But in the end, with his eating, his drinking, his smoking, his wittiness, his love of debate, and his overall goal of simultaneously entertaining and informing, Chesterton is the figure from the early 20th Century whom he most resembles. And even then, he's a really, really shitty copy of Chesterton.
