After a thorough research I have concluded I am legitimately far too intelligent to weigh up the pros and cons of getting into literature and come to the conclusion that it's a valuable use of my time. Allow me to explain further:
>confirmed IQ of 194
>accepted into the world's most prestigious research institute at the tender age of 19
>my elite intellect means I need constantly to be solving the world's most complex mathematical, geopolitical, economic, scientific and social problems in order to stay happy
>would get nothing out of socialising with people who make reading the central part of their lives due to their generally low intelligence
>already know more about western literature and history than anyone else on /lit/ after spending a weekend learning about it, due to my prodigious reading and comprehension speed and memory retention

I understand that reading might be a valuable pastime for those of you not blessed a mind similar to mine, but for someone such as myself it is a waste of time.

Boring LARP. Your horrible grammar and reasoning betray you. Reading books, just like listening to recorded music or watching films, is a way of absorbing processed information aesthetically (even non fiction is aesthetical). What you do with that absorption, whether you make it emotional/formalist/reactive/critical etc, decides whether your reading and listening is worthwhile or not. Any class of media can be entirely rejected by anyone in order to simplify their lives in the pursuit of a refined goal. Monks might ban all recorded music and film from their lives to focus on God. IQ is not extremely relevant to this decision. If you don't have a genuine interest in literature, you'd be wasting your time forcing it of course. Solve the world's most difficult problems, please. Perhaps your amazing verbal only and action packed approach will eliminate the regressive stain of literary pretensions on Western culture. Just make sure you don't write any books explaining how you failed to do it. Then you'd be a philosopher.
