I've heard a lot about it, and it seems like something I might like. Is it just a /lit/ circlejerk or something worth my time?

I read it for the first time last week.
It's a genuine mixed back - it's funny, depressing horrifying but also at times boring.
I don't know that I ever want to read it again or that it's as amazing as some believe it is but I'm glad I read it.

it’s surprisingly readable. i found it to be the most readable of the meme trilogy. i enjoyed it

I think so. Also it took me far too long to realise what the fuck map meant. "He demapped himself"

oh right yeah of course that meant he killed himself, my bad, apologies for being so retarded.

He never mentions race there, that is your own assumption, could just be a little kid or mentally ill.

There’re a few stupid things in it but overall it’s actually a really engaging and emotional read - there’s a lot of very honest stuff about feeling alone, depressed, struggling to redeem yourself, to live up to expectations, etc. And the narrative structure is really cool.’

Most of the hate it gets on here comes from people who haven’t read it.

It'll consume your life for a month or two at least, but only because it's really entertaining.
