This idea that comfort is bad for innovation originates from American bullshit. Europeans were making great strides in scientific and literary achievement during many time periods of relatively high comfort and little competition. The issue is with a modern culture that no longer promotes virtue and real education. When people have free time what do they do? They play shallow video games or watch porn and other debauchery. When people had free time in the past what did they do? They messed around with mathematical equations, read literature, and much more. Moreover, people are having less and less free-time, which is bad.
During my own free-time, I tend to do very educational things when I am not being absorbed into the gay-ass Internet talking to retards like you.

It's bad because what happens when all your basic needs are satisfied? You're miserable and/or develop a myriad of health problems and bad habits. Sex? Limitless and in every variety imaginable, healthy or sugar packed it's all here for an hours minimum wage. Shelter? Electricity, hot water, heating, air con, comfortable bedding. You become allergic to any kind of mildly harsh weather conditions, you become a huge pussy who runs for shelter in a light shower of rain. Comfort turns you from an adaptable animal into a harmless blob.
