Not him but that’s how I first read the Bible, of course I’d been raised Christian my whole life and already knew the gists of a lot of it going in. I can see how reading Leviticus/Numbers/Deuteronomy might be really taxing
Here’s my number one alternate order: New Testament Matthew-Jude, Old Testament, Revelation
Other than that, you’re gonna have to get through the dry sections eventually, why delay the inevitable?

Read it in order a few times then start picking and choosing where to read at random

>> No.13530175

I would say read the Pentateuch, Job, the Gospel's, all the Pauline books, and Revelation. Only read other books if they specifically interest you.

>> No.13530198

If you start with the "wrong" book it could give you the "wrong" impression.

Speaking for me & only me, Genesis was the biggest most boring pain in the ass book to read. And I thought the entire Bible was going to be like that.

Read at any point:
Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, Psalms.
Read and re-read them until You litteraly can put quotes from them in conversation without looking like an ass.

Then You read the Genealogies and the Mosaic Laws: They're for reference and they'll be usefull soon.

Now You read some book of exegesis and some commentaries.

Then You go chronologically in the OT: you now have the means to connect things that don't seem to make sense at first glance.

Now You retard the prophets and You're ready fooooorrrr

The new testament.
You can read that in the order You wish.

>> No.13532606

read tolstois new testament, then the old testament, stop to read dante, mill, melville, continue to new testament, return to read all old testament and new testament as you wish jumping around.

>put it in God’s hands
is a shill. When in faith and within the Mind of God, open the book to the exact spot you need to learn from.

You don't need them. I at least concede the Wisdom books aren't interesting, but they're certainly not essential to get the gist of what goes on in the Bible. I mean shit, if I were recommending what I myself enjoyed I'd recommend the historical books too but you certainly don't need to read them. You really don't need Job either but I think it's one of the best books so I threw it in.

What the fuck is wrong with reading it in the order it's printed in??

The average reader will get bogged down at the middle of Exodus and give up, for the same reason that they wouldn’t want to read the US criminal code or an architectural blueprint.

Personally, I recommend reading several parts of the Bible simultaneously:
>Pentateuch
>History
>Poetic/Wisdom literature
>Prophets
>New Testament

A chapter a day from each of these will give an excellent overview of the whole. I also strongly recommend an annotated study Bible such as the Ignatius Didache Bible or the Ignatius New Testament Study Bible. I don’t know the names of the various Protestant study Bibles but I’m sure there are some good ones.

I tried reading the bible from the start years ago, most disappointing boring shit ever
Let me sum up what i remember
"In the year something something, jacob, who lived for 500 years, maries rebecca, the sister of moshe, son of isaac. They have ten sons, david, david, david, david, moshe, and then another bunch of little kikes. Then david marries esther, daughter of david, himself great uncle of isaac. Their 600yo son jacob of jew-town marries his 5th degree cousin rebecca, sister of isaiah and abraham and david. Then they have a son called joshuah, who lived for 200 years, and who married rebecca, great grand daughter of the niece of the brother of the son of david. Their daughter esther, who lived an unrealistic amount of time too, also married another guy called joshuah, himself son of david, great grand son of rebecca and brother of david, and ..."
