>implying Nagarjuna's supposed excellent philosophy is not a result of pride, and the dedicated study of this mortal philosopher is not also the result of pride
There's only one philosopher worth reading anon. God, in the flesh, as Jesus.

Do the Advaitafag fear him?

>> No.13525990

>>13525969
No, Nagarjuna had no idea what the fuck Advaita was and doesn't reference the Upanishads or Vedantic teachings in any of his works, he mainly concerns himself with refuting opposing sects of Buddhism and with certain types of Hindu thought like Nyaya.

Who is the Theravadan equivalent of Nagarjuna?

>> No.13526136 [DELETED]

>>13526114
they have none but it's okay because Nagarjuna does not contradict a single word of the Pali Canon and any portrayal of him on the side of any Theravadins is sectarian nonsense.
Mahayana has a lot of revisionist shit, but Nagarjuna is not that.
Many open minded Theravadins appreciate Nagarjuna anyways

Anyone with wrong view fears Nagarjuna. This includes (perhaps especially so, since they were the intended audience of his primary works) many Buddhists.
Read him if you want to refine your view and avoid both nihilism and eternalism.

Papanca can be skillful though
this is why it is important to read about Nirvana and get some grasp of what it entails conceptually, even though it can only ever be understood Ultimately and truly through direct realization.
The Suttas are not just meditation instruction manuals. There is a lot more to them than that.
