Will I enjoy this if I have ADHD and haven't read a book that was 100+ pages since high school? Movies are usually my preferred medium

It's kind of a diagnosis of the ADHD condition, the need for constant stimuli and pleasure, then there's this real nice alcoholics anonymous part that makes you feel like your life could still be saved

adhd simply means having low executive functions, and some people's executive functions are low enough to warrant calling it a disorder because it disrupts basic aspects of their daily life. It's obviously real

DFW believed in ADHD and within the text diagnoses the protagonist/author surrogate as suffering from a mild form of an attention disorder. Infinite Jest is about attention, attention and pleasure, and it explicitly incorporates distraction and entertainments like movies into the main narrative and style. There are many passages that play out like movie scenes, and the irritating overload of nonessential information is the textual equivalent to ADD. So yes, I would say the book is fried brain friendly. It's not a difficult book but it is very long. If you haven't learned to focus for extended periods of time on a piece of writing (especially literature), you probably won't finish. This focusing ability is a skill, but one that's relatively easy to pick up (even if you have ADHD). I am speaking from experience
