>Analytic philosophy is just autistic whining about forcing shit into even more autistic models
>continental philosophy is just derivates of Marx and post-Marxist frenchies who reduce all philosophy to a study of economics while psychoanalysts have reduced man to just a sexual animal
>No ground-breaking and controversial writers anymore because anyone problematic gets cancelled (pic related would've been buried had he been around today).

Was Spengler right that there is nothing creative left to do?

I hope he didn't actually say that because that's hilariously wrong.

Mate he was almost executed in the late '40s and had to flee the country. Don't act like Céline is some fragile last bastion for free speach only denounced because of todays political climate. He openly supported the Nazis while they occupied France.

Also Macron supported him and hasn't been buried, there's nothing really antisemitic or that stuff or Journey to the End of the Night, which is what he's famous for, that was his pamphlets.

Please don't post about Céline again.

Yes. Art is unironically over. There hasn't been a single unique thing made in the 21st century.

The point is that Céline was still recognized for his artistic talent, which probably wouldn't happen today, because the author and his work can no longer be separated, and that Céline is today only seen as 'uncontroversial' because he was already recognized as a literary giant.

The existential questions of the Western mind were effectively solved by Kant with his synthesis of empiricism and rationalism. After him philosophy begins a gradual decline from metaphysics to politics, probably starting with Schopenhauer as the first type of nihilistic Western philosopher that Nietzsche describes in "The Problem of Socrates"
Nowadays philosophy is just criticism of society

Think of the cultural output between 1950 and 1969 and tell me 19 years isn't enough for major works, you absolute imbecile.

>>13372960
You're wrong about continental philosophy but I won't exactly claim that its been going in a good direction either. I blame the French.

Spengler wasn't right, theres still creativity left, but what he did accurately diagnose is that there is no culture left to receive it. Any genuinely valuable output is going to be produced by alienated weirdos for other alienated weirdos, if anyone. The time of cultural movements is gone, its all cannibalization of earlier movements and deconstruction, we're in a death spiral.

Yeah i think that's a better way to put it, although the fact that there is no environment for art left also means there is very little reason left to produce it.

There's nothing to escape from. Western philosophy was finished by Kant like how Greek philosophy was finished by Aristotle. This is the "problem" (for lack of a better word) that Spengler outlines, that once a high culture has solved its existential problems it loses all its creativity because it more or less considers its arts of form completed, and it then transitions into the civilization phase where creativity is dead so it directs its energy outward into imperialism instead. Classical music, metaphysical philosophy, the hereditary monarchy and high societal form, etc all disappeared around the same time that world wars (beginning around the time of Napoleon), imperialism, capitalism, political philosophy, etc began to appear.

That isn't what that person is implying. I would wager they mean to say that Marxist materialism is an insignificant portion of (worthwhile) cont. philosophy. Or at least I hope that is what they meant.
