I'm only halfway through but for me its ETA > Ennet House > > > Steeply and Marathe.

I honestly am struggling to "get" Steeply and Marathe's sections. Both thematically, and what is exactly the overall relation to the "plot". The overall political stuff really is hard to grasps and remember since I'm reading the book slowly small bits at a time.

AA scenes are peak, there's a reason it goes out when Gately's buddy dies.
Followed by Scenes at the Academy
Followed by Stepely and Marathe.

Stepely and Marathe are too crippled to be interesting, even if stepely is actually the girl Orin likes

Their conversations are exactly the same. Stepely baits Marathe into some dense philosophical thing. Marathe feigns a sniff and adjusts his blanket and thinks of his skulless wife. Why.

I would put them in that order, the Steeply/Marathe sequence is iconic.

What's your opinion on the ending, do you think Gately relapses at the end? That was my impression of it

That boston AA section around page 340 is still the greatest thing i've read in a long time and my favourite section in the entire book.

marathe is my favorite character in that book i m really glad they put him in smash. next is definitely ennet house. the academy stuff is funny but a little too quirky at times
