Actually, as most of Montevideo's citizens at the time, I'm all about being realista. The idea that there was a nation to be liberated is just dumb and retroactive nationalistic historiography interpretations. Until 1828, there was a chance to be incorporated to the Provincias Unidas (that then became Argentina), to continue under the Imperio del Brasil's rule, and even to become a protectorate state under the auspice of the British. Our existence is the dumbest consequence possible.

There are two main reasons why the revolution started: the contagious power of Buenos Aires' Junta de Mayo (that only existed after the Bayona's abdications and risen suspicions on the virrey Liniers' link with Napoleón and the French) and the conflict in regards to territorial jurisdictions, land ownership and cattle exploitation's rights.

I thought learning a romance language would be easier than German. I'll also be coursing a class of French literature in college next year and that gave me the idea of learning French. So far, it's been fun or at the very least, satisfying, and I don't hate the language. I do have a lot of trouble with the accent; after so many years of speaking the language, I have a weird English pronunciation whenever I speak French.

That's just some vocabulary. Spanish and French have way more similar words. The difficulty for an English speaker while learning French is the pronounciation, the genders, the homophones, learning the exceptions to the rules, and the verbal conjugations. Spanish on the other hand is really not difficult to pronounce once you know the rules, and there isn't a big problem with homophones.

None of this is correct and your linguistic handicap is showing. By the standard people use to mock Castilian Spanish, American English also has a "lisp" in the words "thin" "thanks" and "therapy".

You wot? I'm saying the poster mocking the Spanish of Europe with a written "lisp" rendering all "s" sounds as thhhhhhh doesn't even understand the accent. The do t have fricatives at all in Mexican Spanish really but not what we were talking about. Castellano renders written c and z as "th" as in English "think". All "s" sounds like at the end of gracias and beginning of señor are just... Normal "s". There's no more lisp than an American saying "thanks" has a lisp and the person is a langtard.

Sugi pula mea.

Romana is the coolest and best Romance language. By far the most interesting and flexible grammar, retaining aspects of Latin all other Romance languages lost. We also have cool Eastern Europe/Russian vibes, very masculine as opposed to faggoty French and Spanish. Easy phonetic orthography like Spanish. Not as silly and overly-musical as Italian. We also get to say "fuck" all the time, because "do/make" is fac. Best language.

Are we talking just the language or actual encounters with people? I don't have enough personal experience with Spaniards to judge either way but Slava Domnului the language sounds very effeminate. French to my ear is more masculine, in that it can be almost guttural. Portuguese is for this reason more manly than Spanish to my ear but I do not hear often.

I disagree. Spanish is way more masculine than French to my air. Hard consonants (especially the rotative sound) and clear vowels. Is like saying English is more masculine than Greek. It feels weird.

French sounds like they'e being deepthroated as they speak. Words in French have no power, they're just like the hissing of a serpent or the purring of a cat. Portuguese is the retarded brother of French and Spanish. Spaniards can sound feminine due to the lisp in their Cs and Zs but Mexican men sound masculine. But overall, Spanish doesn't have any ormanents, it's spoken the way it's written, every single letter is pronounced, and it can be concise yet elegant. That's what masculinity is about. Functionality in spirit and form.

The origin is relevant because Germanic words tend to sound rougher. Thunder is not masculine because of the Th, but because what's around it (a D an R sound, no less). And Thunder has never been Sunder, that's not its natural origin. You have to look for a context where the S and Z compare in their respective language. It's a very dishonest tactic to compare words from another language that don't even have the S sound. What's the better word "skyfall" or "thkyfall"? Thee? It doethn't work that.

wtf are you talking about? spanish has the S sound, it's called S. To make the Th sound you have to use a Z or a C (before some letters)
