Honest opinions?

No need to try and look cool for your imaginary internet friends

Sweet writer, tortured soul. IJ really helped me when I was in a dark place. Posthumous metoo attempts are retarded

Never read him and don't know why /lit/ keeps posting this guy. Feel bad that he committed sudoku, seemed like an alright guy.

If what he was saying was coming out of the mouth of virtually anybody else, I'd be on board. DFW had everything going for him and he threw it away and decided to capitalize on "muh depression" instead. Not saying that it was a bad money move, but practice what you preach or kys. Glad to see he chose the latter.

If he had finished The Pale King before offing himself it would’ve been legendary (both the finished book and his suicide)

honestly think he was an intelligent guy with good ideas but he was an awful circumlocutious stylist whose prose makes him unreadable

Mainländer is as underrated as he is correct, it's just that no one reads him and so they know him as the meme philospher who killed himself and hated life.

i agree. he's interesting to listen to in his interviews when he's clear and obviously trying to get his point across, but i really dislike the way most of his stories are written, at least the high-brow stuff. some of it is readable

Have you read The girl with curious hair, or his other short stories?
