If you can't decide for yourself whether a philosopher's ideas hold merit based on your own interpretation of their work you should not be posting on /lit/. Seriously. Why enter a discussion board on literature if you can't even read it? Biographical details are irrelevant because ideas are discovered, not created, and therefore their status exists independent of whoever bears them. Marxism wouldn't be a better doctrine if somebody more sane than Marx came up with it.
