Because they study economics as if they were studying the humanities, which means reading the classics, or, even worse, books which they 'feel' are good.

There's a very obvious reason why no biology students read Aristotle, Linnaeus, Pasteur, Darwin and Lamarck anymore.

You might not like it, but that's honestly how it is: the free market works and there are no good reasons for prohibiting such behaviors as hate speech, marijuana smoking, homosexual orgies and gun ownership.

Anyway, this whole "reality has a leftist bias" meme stems from the idea that it's only right-wingers who distort reality in order to satisfy their own ideology, which is entirely false when you take a look at what communists, feminists, black activisrs and others say and do: they are ready to reject science immediately whenever it defies their dogmas, and, unlike conservatives, who are mostly not in academia, lefties have the power to pretty much destroy the career of any scientist they want. If you decide to say the things James Watson, Freeman Dyson, Charles Murray or Nassim Taleb say... You become a pariah in your own environment.
