He hasnt even started yet.
He'll have Neil Gayman ghost write them Because He's scared not to be considered a """"genius"""" by his braindead readers anymore.
Typical gamma male need behaviour: won't take risks so he can't fail.
Accept the fact that You will never read the endings.

It would be very very odd for him to lie about this, though I also find it quite hard to believe both books are finished.
Though, to be fair, if the books ARE done, it somewhat redeems GRRM in terms of disproving writer's block/the idea he wrote himself into a corner he cannot emerge from, so he spent years and years doing anything BUT writing.

Well, I guess that depends on how fast of a reader you are? I know that I personally could not. I feel like I can read, at max, like 200 pages, before my brain gets fried. And that's in general. ASOIAF has so many characters and plotlines and so much lore and details that you'll probably want to take it slow. If you're already familiar with a lot of the characters, that will hella help you get through the story.

fuck happy endings, they're the most intellectually dishonest thing there is, it's even worse than writing vampire erotica. i could make that work. being forced to write happy things when i want to be honest about the reality of life is torture, it's worse than selling out. i'd rather suck penis to get published than be forced to write happy stories. at least being a whore is honest.

sadness is an innate quality. Everyone you love will die. Everything you attain will be taken from you. Your body will decay while you're still alive, trapping you in physical pain and declining physical ability. The earth is so massive and diverse that you could spend a lifetime exploring and never see even half of what is amazing and beautiful here, but for all but a few weeks of your life, you'll be trapped in one city, engaging in eight hours of work a day, holding onto the hope of a few weeks of freedom for the future sometime so far ahead that you wouldn't even bother to buy the plane ticket for months and months yet. That two people can never truly understand each other, that a man can't even separate his own public face from his true self, and before long forgets who he was and who he wanted to become. That civilization and sentience and peace are the exception from the norm. That two people simply cannot lay together for the rest of eternity, that outside needs will drive them apart before the span of mere hours have passed. That this world is a very large place, and there is no guaranteed place for you, no guaranteed need for you, that one day of bad luck is all it takes for everything to fall through your grasp.

I just re-watched that scene on Youtube. It made me remember why I liked GoT a few years ago, when I first started watching it. The costumes and acting (for the most part) are fantastic in that scene. It's pretty astonishing how the overall quality of the show fell so dramatically, not only in terms of plot cohesion and writing but set design, costumes, acting, smaller details etc.
Later on the entire budget was dedicated to CGI and terrible actors demanding more money for terrible performances while all the talented actors are killed off and costumes became an absolute joke.

>Related to this a question arises: whether it be better to be loved than feared or feared than loved? It may be answered that one should wish to be both, but, because it is difficult to unite them in one person it is much safer to be feared than loved, when only one is possible. [...] Nevertheless a prince ought to encourage fear in such a way that, if he does not win love, he avoids hatred. He can carry on very well being feared while he is not hated, which will always be as long as hekeeps away from the property of his citizens and subjects and from their women. But when it is necessary for him to proceed against the life of someone, he must do it with proper justification and for obvious reasons. But above all things he must keep his hands off the property of others, because men more quickly forget the death of their father than the loss of their inheritance.
