He was a nice guy in a particularly mean strain of theory who spent the rest of his life trying and failing to reconcile the two. The soggy empath to Land's spiky autism. To be clear, I don't think him offing himself had anything to do with theory, or even the response to his Vampire article. He was fighting depression most of his life, it was a matter of time.
