Why are her books criticized for being nothing more than political soapbox rants, when Cervantes and Dostoevsky did the same thing?

I've read 240 pages of Atlas Shrugged, and my impression is that shes a stain on the USA, and a stain on the human species. But to be fair, shes the worst of the greatest novelists.

I feel like she's unfairly malinged. It's a unique reading experience with satisfying aesthetics. It's just that you're reading not about people or places but instead about virtues and ideas in (somewhat) human form. The romance between these iron characters is of course ridiculous.

See this is both a shallow view of Rand and rap music. Ayn Rand was a refugee from the collectivist system of the Soviet Union and consequently she was enamoured with the individualist principles of the United States, and shocked by those who wanted to adopt the Soviet ideals. She admired people who went out into the world and by will alone changed it according to their individual vision. This expression of the self was her aesthetic ideal. Obviously that does not create a sophisticated philosophical system and attempting it was foolish but a lot of people have found positive inspiration in her work. Not me specifically, but I found her fiction interesting. People attacking her work have mostly fallen for the leftist propaganda construct that she is a foundational thinker of the conservative movement or whatever, which is just silly.

Because her work go against, collectivist ideologies like socialism and nationalism, goes against religion(specialy the abrahamic ones), goes against the idea of self sacrifice as something noble and her world view is antithetical to the platonist one.

Most of /lit/ are socialists, religious or platofags so they would never consider her ideias.
