What does /lit/ think of Feyerabend?

Read his autobiography last year and really enjoyed it.

/sci/ hates scientists who are eloquent and capable of convincing people that science is meaningful and exciting, because they imagine that grant money doesn't rely on public goodwill and witch hunts are a thing of the past. Feynman deserves his celebrity, even if scientists are too autistic to understand why people like Feynman are necessary.

His works are ramblings of an eccentric schizophrenic.

Based in my opinion. Im reading his Philosophy of Nature at the moment. I find the left's attempt to co-opt him as one of their own amusing to say the least.

I chuckled. Fuck that preening pseud Feynman though.

Feyerabend is beautiful

There's a fun interview with him shortly before his death in Horgan's End of Science. Worth reading alongside the Popper interview. Popper comes across as a twat.

What’s your opinion on Feynman?

From what I read about them they seem like a sort of methodological Chomsky honk, overly concerned with negative liberties of scientific practice to the point of missing the positive liberties in the scientific community that afford scientific progress. In fact they seem so focused on the methodological practice of individual scientists that the scientific COMMUNITY is nominalized. If I were to pigeon hole philosophers of science it would go like this Popper- libshit, Feyerabend- naive radical, Peirce- enlightened radical centerist.
But what do I know I haven't actually read the fellow.

Why wouldn't you want to see science as meaningful and exciting?

What the fuck are you talking about? Also stop refering to Feyerabend as "them" you weirdo.

Memes aside, the only Feyerabend I've read is "Against Method". I read Kuhn's "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions" at around the same time and I know I liked one of them and found the other very boring, I just can't remember which was which. And then my house burned down, so I can't flip through them to jog my memory.

I'm talking about highly sophisticated dilettante stuff you wouldn't get it, cis scum.

Based Austrian. Burned most of scientism's sacred cows.

Based. He provides one of the more eloquent descriptions of how dogmatic science has become.
