Eh, all of my hard copies are either cookbooks, occult works, old programming/markup textbooks, and the occasional "here Anon, I thought you'd like this"

Everything else I pirate because I don't have room for physical anthologies and most of the shit worth reading for pleasure as opposed to reference was written by someone who isn't alive to collect the royalties anyway.

Some much more than others. Ive touched on all the philosophy though some of it I’ve read and reread for years. I have read some of the National Audubon books cover to cover, especially stars and atmosphere and trees of NA. I have read all the indigenous stuff, all the Krazy & Ignatz collections, and so on and so on. Some are more reference and others are tattered cum rags because of how often I come back to them.

Is Imagine Communities worth a read? A few of my History professors frequently harp on about it , wondering if it's worth the time.

>> No.12885091

>>12885021
Well I think it depends on where you're coming from and why you'd be interested in that theory of the nation. But I will say that it doesn't surprise me that your professors like a lot, not just because it's a somewhat novel way of describing the relationship between print/text and subjectivity, but because it was a very influential book at the time most 40-55ish year old profs were in grad school. Anderson is, in a sense, the nouveau Marshall McLuhan to that crowd.
Anyway, I think there are pretty good descriptions of time and that's why I like it. The theory of the nation is somewhat outdated, but that's how it goes. It's easy to read and compelling, and so if you're not looking for the absolute truth of something, give it a go.

Yeah I keep the ones related to my major that I would actually go back and use and pirate the rest. If you're math that's not a bad idea, I'm sure you guys would similarly need to constantly go back and reapply more basic stuff in new areas.

if you ever want a different edition of Dante, most people recommend Mandelbaum or Ciardi. I personally have the Portable Dante by Musa, which is also good. this really comes down to whether or not you really care about Dante or how your shelf looks; if shelf aesthetics don't matter and Dante isn't one of your favorites, don't bother
