Nature is the backbone of all beneficial intellectual endeavors of man. Good literature that takes place in a city is literally an oxymoron. City life can only be endured by those have grown to live like insects, knowing nothing more profound than markets, the endless discussion of progress, and a failure to see anything profound in life beyond the gross material. If you want to be a good writer, go to the country. If you want to grow spiritually, go to the country. If you want to raise a family, go to the country. If you want to live the best and healthiest version of your life, go to the country.
It is sad that there are anons on here at this very moment that have never known the sheer beauty of a walk in the woods. They have never heard the quaint running of water down the rocks of a brook. They have never known the simple pleasure of hearing the eagle's noble call.
Protect nature while you still have it.

Linkola has never even seen a proper metropolitan city which that quote would fit, living like insects. Something like Tokyo or perhaps New York.

Remember; this guy got absolutely traumatized while travelling central Europe in the 60s or 70s and talked how he had seen some sort of billboard ad with bright colors; how the whole landscape had been ruined by this monstrous monolith of consumerism that would only fit to be induce epilepsy in the pure nature-oriented man.

Linkola does not even appreciate "beauty of a walk in the woods", he is all about preserving primary forest/old-growth forests in their natural state with no humans walking around for some sort of "refreshment"

As a Finn I have always found this man quite the hypocrite; he uses diabetic medication and antidepressants despite being hostile towards medical establishment and medicine in general. He has children of his own while criticizing overpopulation. He was a commercial fisher most of his life which could be considered a rather wasteful use of earth's resources, considering he did it "for money" rather than just "to survive".
