Bought this on a whim because I like the construction. Thick paper cover with a leaf, raised lettering, deckled edges, and the pages have a nice texture.

This is the only thing I've read by Gaiman and I enjoyed it. Reminded me of becoming totally absorbed by books like A Wrinkle In Time in my childhood.

I finally managed to pick up all the packages I wanted.
Got these:
Iliad and Odyssey
Before Sunrise by Mikhail Zoschenko
Selected poems of Anna Akhmatova
Whatever by Michel Houellebecq

Started reading Whatever (done with Part one), but schoolwork got in the way.
What can I say, it embodies the zeitgeist pretty well. It's vulgar, yet actually well written, unlike some other books that talk about sex and the human body. Maybe it's that Houellebecq talks more about out souls and the little social games we play to fool each other.

Is this the standard on /lit/? Why wouldn't he read these books? The only reason you would jump to that conclusion is
a) You yourself only read stories and have resentment about it
or
b) You're extremely disenfranchised about people who read due to past experiences
Either way, why not discuss some of the books posted and contribute instead of shitpost and bitch? And what's with the complaints about philosophy? Don't we read for viewpoints, perspective and thoughtful analysis in the first place?

this is a stacks thread. not a shelves thread. hard to judge what everyone reads from one stack. I have a spectroscopy workshop coming up and will be reading a couple books on that soon. I also JUST finished Overbye's Lonely Hearts of the Cosmos, and have read other science-related works, including biographies of Einstein, Oppenheimer, and von Braun. now I'm not saying I'm smart, because I'm fucking not. just pointing out that these stacks are not representative of an entire body.
