Pessoa is not concerned with history or the period of "modernity" as his contemporaries are, Pessoa doesnt give a shit the era and yet he is a better voice for his century than anybody else. Pessoa is instead concerned with life itself and eternity.
Pessoa himself was a great faker, he knew that deep down he was a genius however he always told himself he was not worth anything. Pessoa is the universal, you will find everything in his work, his work contains questions which the common men ask themselves that is why I think anybody can pick up The Book of Disquiet and identify with many parts of the book. Pessoa and his universe subsumes all feelings simultaneously.

ive been reading Pessoa lately. dude kinda seems like a fraud to me. he just had these patchworks of random cobbled writings sown together.

I enjoy reading his stuff, hell I even get lost in it sometimes. He gives me aspiration in my own work.

But I think he's just going to be revered here by people precisely because he was a lost outsider. Someone like Amis was much more significant to me.

why does he seem like a fraud to you? fragments and incompletness is much to his nature. also he was more of a poet anyway.
honestly he is revered by more people than this board he is more than just a /lit/ meme now. he has been getting more recognized and gaining traction within the world each year even pewds is reading him now. his prediction that he will become famous is becoming true imo he speaks more to his century and continuing on into this one more than anybody else.
