Yes, read Demian instead if you’re entry level.

It's horribly written "just be yourself" leftist propaganda in an extremely thinly veiled, cliched allegory.

I think his basic idea is right. Nobody should ever be restricted from doing what they want to do, certainly by themselves. But all his talk of omens, and universal conspiracies is just bullshit. It's a gamble, your life can be irrevocably damaged if you take that leap. It's not good literature in any sense, he forces his themes on you so that the normies can understand. Although if a more talented author wrote this, it could be a decent topic to explore. I'd like to read this with the prose of Melville, Steinbeck, Hardy, not some hue hue hack

only a brainlet lets someone else tell them what they can and can't enjoy. so you're a brainlet, but not for the reason you were thinking

I think it’s totally fine as a little adventure story.

If that makes you happy I guess? That's better than read something you don't like and struggling with it just because a lot of people read it..

But it's not fine even as a little adventure story. It's incredibly didactic and the tone is bathetic and precious. It's bad, dude. Only excuse to read it is if you're a girl. Like, literal human female under the age of majority.

Fuck the haters anon, this book is enjoyable. Yeah it isn't revolutionary and it's rife with mystical but ultimately meaningless themes and it's a bit deceptive in that sense, pseudo profound if you will, but ultimately it's a quick enjoyable read.
