But digital technology is only accessible via programming languages. If any device is discovered and the language used is unknown, the information is lost. There is no rebuilding a computing language from the raw data. There is also the serious issue that as we exponentially increase the amount of information stored, the more we are actually reverting to oral history; we are building a library without structure and without a catalog. We only know where information is because some people remember it. What's even worse is that unlike with oral tradition, our most essential information is being taken for granted; most people assume that if it's important, it will be accessible on the internet. Our culture's body of knowledge has never been more threatened.

They won't. We live in a waste culture. 99% of all output is literal trash. Its only value is in the consumption, and it is all forgotten as soon as it has passed. Either people will pass through this phase, or society will collapse. If the former, all this will be intentionally left behind, and if the latter, the only survivors will be those who stuck to traditions with deeper roots. What's most important is that some people begin to realize just how fragile cultural consciousness is, and how impossible it is to make any kind of progress without tradition.
