How do you cope with the fact we're entering a New Dark Age, propelled by the rampant digitalization of culture and the economy?

By thinking about the implications and where I fit both economically and historically in ability to do justly not from hearsay but from exposure to threats as though an anthropologist and an agent within a coherent system. Technology as an other has no coherence within an ecological whole. Technology is a part of an interdependant system that biases certain types of constructions that are easy to manifest in negitive examples such as bee and b or sounditout with "" missing to indicate the false encryption or misdirection. Annoyance and alinatination, taken from connected ip. Interlinked with pharTickulars.

By recognizing that the first Dark Age was just a modernist meme anyways, and there never was any "enlightenment" at all. This isn't dusk, it is dawn.

At least it's retrievable, in the old dark ages they all wasted their knowledge on oral tradition. As far as we know, anyway.
Would be cool if the 10000BC folks had some other way of storing info we know nothing about, just lying somewhere on earth waiting to be accessed.

>> No.12518685

>>12518666
That's what OP's post is about though, storing stuff digitally will be a black hole if we lose the tech(we already are for some older stuff).

As opposed to like Sumerian clay tablets

But digital technology is only accessible via programming languages. If any device is discovered and the language used is unknown, the information is lost. There is no rebuilding a computing language from the raw data. There is also the serious issue that as we exponentially increase the amount of information stored, the more we are actually reverting to oral history; we are building a library without structure and without a catalog. We only know where information is because some people remember it. What's even worse is that unlike with oral tradition, our most essential information is being taken for granted; most people assume that if it's important, it will be accessible on the internet. Our culture's body of knowledge has never been more threatened.

That makes me think. What if the most significant development the InterNet brings to the table how it changes communication from being focused on the written word to the oral word?

They won't. We live in a waste culture. 99% of all output is literal trash. Its only value is in the consumption, and it is all forgotten as soon as it has passed. Either people will pass through this phase, or society will collapse. If the former, all this will be intentionally left behind, and if the latter, the only survivors will be those who stuck to traditions with deeper roots. What's most important is that some people begin to realize just how fragile cultural consciousness is, and how impossible it is to make any kind of progress without tradition.

I'm a programmer, so hopefully I will be useful to the robot overlords. Maybe I will be spared in the purge and kept around to clean their E-toilets or something.

A lot of programmers are really fucking weird, because of their inability to sound impressive when discussing programming shit to your average person they often take up philosophy or a social science as a hobby to compensate and become convinced they're on equal terms on people who studied those subjects professionally.
