yikes. maybe you should leave philosophy of mind to people who actually know the difference between the Parietal Lobe and Central Sulcus.

your nifty little feign at socratic dialogue is flawed because (much like socrates) you barge into a specific subject without any real knowledge of it and strawman things to hell.

the definition for appearance and illusion that you put in Dennett's mouth are nowhere near close to how they would actually be defined in his works.

I suggest pic related to maybe familiarize yourself with what you are so asspained about before you try dismissing it out of hand.

I unironically wrote a short story in about three days to meet a deadline and it was shortlisted for a competition and published in a book available on Amazon. If you google my name now it brings up a catfish-tier selfie-style image of me and the story attached. It's on a couple of websites so I can't ask for it to be taken down either. The story itself makes me regularly cringe even now two years later, as it's a first person narrative about a guy who is pretty much a butthurt paranoid incel who acts like a creep and obsesses over a girl he's never talked to. It's absolutely cringeworthy and whenever I read about a #metoo story I keep thinking "I'm next" or something. I figure writing and submitting the story was just an act of psychological self-harm, as anybody reading it will obviously think I'm writing from first hand experience or whatever. And it's not even well-written for the most part, with a couple of nice sentences ruined by pretentious language, obvious elegant variation, etc. It's really put me off writing anything else tbqh.

Fucking same, man. Few years ago, i once wrote a column responding to a fellow columnist and it was met with some controversy. My main point was about maturity, experience, and giving yourself the space to change and grow, but they kept thinking it was unfeminist, simply because I was "critical" of a woman. I wasn't even critical; I was just providing a different perspective. A bunch of proper bullshit, honestly. Plus the same fucking editor that said my piece was 'anti-feminist' was sleeping with a another columnist who said some nuts edgy shit that got published no problem. I fucking hate arthoe college women

Anyway, now I'm making my way to being a writer, getting published and shit, and I'm worried if some twitter cunt critic is gonna seek my old shit out and get me judged, juried, and executed by social media mob

>following Dennett's reductive physicalism
You should have listened to Chalmers, Anon. You've been led astray. Panpsychism, especially in the vein of Whitehead's Panexperiantialism, is how you inquire into the Hard Problem.

>Panpsychism, especially in the vein of Whitehead's Panexperiantialism, is how you inquire into the Hard Problem.
Panpsychism solves nothing since it simply repeats the problem of consciousness and the mind but at an atomic level. See pic related.

Dennett has spent decades exploring this issue with the aid of the top neuroscientists in the world. I can promise you he knows more about what he is talking about than some pseudo-taoist failed-mathematician from the 1930s

>neuroscientists
They aren't even relevant. Science is only a subbranch of philosophy, in the form of applied epistemology. They don't even deal much with the theoretical epistemology so as to actually understand what to even look for. If they did, Dennett would be out of a job.

Anyways, Dennett shouldn't even be taken seriously considering his heterophenomenology is predicated on telling people their subjective experiences didn't happen if it can't be observed by a third party. Nothing but despotic reductivism.

that phrase of the day is pretty good

I've never managed to write more than a few chicken scratches.

On lit, I wrote a a few lines from the point of view of parents dropping their kid off at a conference where Jordan Peterson is attending. It was a fun exercise when the thought occurred to me and (you)'s felt good.

I wrote a script for a bad short film in college and I worked really hard to make the stage directions, the one part that will never be seen by anyone, REALLY FUNNY, DUDE.

I wrote 3 minutes worth of jokes and took them to an open mic to see if I could do it. A few people came to talk to me after to tell me how much they liked it.

My best writing was a series of emails I exchanged with a girl I didn't want to admit I was in love with. We took a Surrealism in Film course together. After classes we would walk each other home and talk about our lives and the movies we watched. I always felt like there was one more thing left to share or ask her about so I would write long, vulnerable emails to her when I got home. I would smile waiting for long vulnerable emails back. We kept writing each other for a year and a half after the semester was over. I realized I was in love her and the emails probably became gross and purple. I suddenly stopped writing her a few months ago besides some short affirmations that she means a lot to me.

My greatest accomplishment so far are my personal essays: long-form writing about my annual solo road trips through the US, reflections on my mother's death, my drinking problem, and my criticisms of society. The first one is called A Mother's Mortality (actually a series of journal entries written in the last months of my mother's life). The second one is called The Tourist about my backpacking trip in the US. The third one is called The Drinker, my solo road trip during which I tried to quit drinking. The fourth one is called A Letter to a Man in the Late 2030s.

All of them are printed and sitting in my lock box, unread except by their author.
