Do you know what titles these books are? How revelent are older books to a modern day presidency or political party? Are they just for show?

It's suspicious how the bound volumes at right are all the same height. The goofy bright colors of the stuff (blank papers?) at left also look strange on a shelf.

I couldn't find the pic, but IIRC there was a shot of Lebron James' house, and he had his bookshelves filled up with gatorade and vitamin water and such. That's what this tableaux reminds me of.

The Kims have literally hundreds of theoretical works attributed to them. Kim Jong Il wrote to name just a few: On Juche Literature, On the Art of the Cinema, On the Art of Opera, On the Art of Drama, On the Art of Music, On Fine Art, On the Art of Dance, On Acrobatics, etc, etc, etc

How much of it is ghostwritten who knows but it's all extremely boring and autistic so it's probably mostly them

The imperialists are manoeuvring cunningly to realize their
dominationist ambition on the plea of “globalization” and
“integration.” They claim that the ideal of building a sovereign
nation-state or the love for country and nation is a “national prejudice
lagging behind the times,” and “globalization” and “integration” are
the trend of the times in the present situation, when science and
technology are developing rapidly and economic exchanges between
countries are being conducted briskly on an international scale.
It is true that science and technology and the economy are
developing at a rapid speed incomparable with those of the past as
science and technology are developing rapidly and economic
exchanges between countries are being conducted briskly on an
international scale. This, however, cannot afford grounds for denying
independence and character of each nation and advocating global
“integration.”
The masses of the people, the motive force of history, demand that
the independence and character of their nation be defended and
developed.

...

All the countries and nations should resolutely reject the
manoeuvres of the imperialists for “globalization” and “integration,”
and staunchly fight to preserve the excellent characteristics of their
individual nations and safeguard their independence. Korea frequently
emphasizes the Korean-nation-first principle so as to preserve the
national character and defend the independence of the nation.
The Korean-nation-first spirit means the pride and self-confidence
in the greatness of the Korean nation and ideological emotion which is
displayed as determination and will to add eternal glory to it. Only
when one displays to the full the spirit that one’s nation is best, can
one safeguard and glorify the dignity and honour of one’s nation, exalt
the excellent characteristics of one’s nation and contribute to the
prosperity of the nation in the face of any difficulties and trials. Now
the Korean-nation-first principle serves as a mighty ideological and
spiritual weapon for propelling the struggle of the Korean people to
safeguard the interests of the nation and realize the independence of
the nation.

They're probably mostly ghost written political books of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il with maybe some Marx, Engels and Lenin books thrown in.

>Unaware of a Thunderstorm

Between May 1966 and July 1969, Kim Jong Il conducted a comprehensive study and analysis of 31 major works by Marx, Engels and Lenin.

Recollecting those days, Kim Jong Il said:

“At that time I read and debated until my eyes became bloodshot and my voice hoarse. But I shall never forget those days of reading and studying.”

One day Kim Jong Il and a group of officials were reading a classic work, which he planned to discuss with them a few days later. Since noon dark clouds had been gathering outside and it began to rain heavily, accompanied by a violent thunderstorm and lightning. But Kim Jong Il was unaware of all this; instead his eyes were glued to the pages of the book. Towards sunset he raised his eyes and looked out.

“When did it begin to rain?” he asked.

“It’s been raining since noon. There was even a thunderstorm,” answered one of the officials.

"Is that so? I was so engrossed in reading that I was unaware what was happening. Anyhow, it was a worthwhile day. I finished reading this book in the course of the afternoon.”

A bright smile spread over his face.
