Hey /lit/, I have a deep rooted inferiority complex towards people who like reading and I just can't shrug it off, so I'd like to start reading more.

Can you suggest me some non fiction to build up babbys' first reading list?
Thanks anon, love you...

Like stuff that should be general knowledge but is hard to find outside of print?
e.g. book pictured also creates an interest in European philosophers.
Author is an Egyptian that studied German and married a Japanese (also studying German), he frequently compares Islamic principles with the enlightenment movement we take for granted.

Do you mean that in hamburgerland you don't read greek and latin literature in highschool?

>> No.12318703

>>12318654
I can't speak for burgerland since im canadian, but I hadn't read anything substantial until my last year of high school when i started reading on my own time, outside of classes. The most "sophisticated" thing i had read in my classes in high school was camus, which even for high schoolers is pretty basic

here in mickeyDland at least for my all white high school we were given the option of latin as a language but language was an elective course, meaning you didn't need to take it. English was basic grammar/spelling/essays, for the actual books we read it was stuff like jane austin charlotte bronte shelley OP pic related book, some african child soldier thing, war of the worlds, east of eden, that kind of thing. One could spark note all of them though so that's what happened with most of us.

I didn't know what 1984 or brave new world was till college

US here. We read a lot of the Greeks in school. Just don't be in normie classes. Those are essentially remedial now because the school system can't have any more dropouts without revealing its worthlessness.

Well, if that's you in the pic, I'd like to say: there's no reason to put any snide old books in your hands! Books are for the shy, the stupid. A pretty young female like yourself has no need for books or complexes. Hows about you give me your number, you know, your phone number, and I can tell you everything one would learn in a book at dinner! Then you can tell me everything you've learned being such a pretty model. We can put aside our differences and learn from each other, and maybe have a drink or two and you can find out there's nothing to be ashamed of in being bookless, and I'll find that the modelling life is not what it's really cut out to be, and that the model is much like the reader, and vice versa, and though we collide in our class differences, we really aren't all that different in the center, the kernel that makes us human.
