Not where I live (Buenos Aires) but in Tokyo (I spend a lot of time there and I'll move in a few days) people use "neutral" dust jacket. I swear I've never seen a person in public reading a book without a dust jacket, literally never, and I see people reading books in public every day in Tokyo. At first I didn't pay attention to that detail, but now is really bugging me because I haven't seen the real cover of a book in years.

Sometimes I think about reading on campus to pass the time but then I realize I haven't seen a person read a book public anywhere in this country in the last 6 or so years and my social anxiety and fear of standing out and being laughed at by the stacies with high-cropped tshirts kicks into high gear.

Be honest, do you even have a chance with a girl if you refer to her as a "stacy?" No. Who cares what she thinks, then? Read your book. She won't even notice you.

>> No.12182354

It makes me feel like a bit of a faggot sometimes but ultimately it doesn't matter. A lot of people read in public, and why wouldn't they? No one cares; the only ones that might are the curious few who wonder what you're reading.

I always disliked people who read during lunch breaks. No decorum or class. ADHD tier mentality.
How about you just sit back, focus on your food and be grateful for the moment instead of wasting life with your neck bent and your nose in a book. Interesting too, the lunchtime readers I have known throughout life were always obese. Television and distraction while eating is one hypothesis for the rise in obesity. Surely, holding a book up reading while you shovel food in your face is going to have the same effect. There is a time to read, a time to eat, and they do not coincide.
