That would be a translator's worst nightmare, there's barely any punctuation, extremely colloquial italian language, it's a continuous, extremely spontaneous stream of consciousness.
Beautiful work of art but a translated version would never be the same.

Joyce, obviously. Shakespeare.
But mainly poets. Most of my favourite novelists have good prose, but nothing spectacular - that's not why I like them, and I imagine their greater strengths would translate.
