Why not just accept that you fucked up and commit yourself to fixing your problems and not fucking up in the future? At least you only fucked up one year of your life, I literally spent 2 years of my life doing nothing but playing oldschool runescape. No job, no reading, nothing to show for it at all other than max stats, and when I finally got there the achievement felt so hollow and devoid of meaning that I contemplated suicide. Thank fuck I didn't go through with it.

this was me except i wasted years (plural) during which i lost my life savings trading memes, remained a khhv, watched hundreds of episodes of bioring fucking naruto and didnt even read one book. i ended my gap years more emotionally and intellectually stunted than when i had just finished hs.

tl;dr if you are a basement dweller and have just finished hs a gap year may end up being detrimental to your wellbeing
