Grab Marxism philosophy and economics by Thomas Sowell, it's like 200 pages and goes everything you need to know.
Capital is a book that's all I can really even say about it having read 2 volumes, it's a time and often infuriating to push through. Biggest problem with it though is how absolutely dated it is to the point where it's largely irrelevant to politics and economics.
If you really want to do some real Socialist reading and not turn out like a tankie or some Zizeck meme just read Rosa Luxemburg she's at least tolerable.

To actually answer your question instead of what that other anon did, no. Volume 1 is not hard to read at all, and the biggest difficulty is probably how long some sentences are, where I had to read them over and over again.
That and make notes on definitions so that you don't forget what "organic capital" or "simple cooperation" means when it gets mentioned again after 200 pages.
I'm reading volume 2 right now though and oh boy, it's a different type of beast.
