This is my habit; I find it rewarding but it's not something I do to feel "wholesome" or in pursuit of some idea of wholesomeness, however that may be defined.
It's just best practice for building understanding over one's lifetime.
I suppose one could say that building understanding over one's lifetime is a wholesome pursuit but that is not my personal idea or goal. The learning is its own end.

I started going early to bed, sleep for eight hours and wake up at 5am to do yoga and meditate. Then, when I'm all peaceful and calm and the birds are singing at the start of a new day, I sit under the trees and read Plato. Leisurely, taking notes and going over everything I learn. All bad thoughts are swept away by this pure enjoyment, and I go about my day feeling wholesome and comfy, waiting for the next morning when I can hopefully wake up again to the world and have fun reading and learning new things.
