The post is just a meme because Joyce was a fartfag (a surprising amount of eccentric intellectuals have had a weird fascination with farts - several confirmed sexually) but like most fetishes it usually starts with a childhood incident that gets associated with the sex drive. As far as a logical explanation for it goes, think of it this way; a fart is literally a condensed cloud of vapor that was produced by a person and then stewed inside of them for multiple hours before being pushed out of hole right next to their genitals. It's not a great leap to see how that could become sexualized. Even the brap-sniff posts make sense if you look at it as a hyper-sexualization of the very essence of the woman's intimate interior.

However, no. Analytic is the only respectable way to go unless you specialize in history of philosophy or post-analytic. Continental is slowly becoming considered not even philosophy anymore in Uni departments because continental is recognizing that they are basically wannabe poets and should just stick with them instead of philosophers
